Almost reminding West European principalities competing & cutting each other’s soldiers that enticed exploration of the ‘resterners’, cut throat competition between the ‘principalities’ of this network entices exploration of technology & psychology. However, unlike resentment of the former, this competition finds no haters.

Forget firms, clash of the titans, in fact, has percolated to the lesser mortals. Almost like scribes orgasmically writing about clashing politicians, endorsing our headline, even bloggers – the secondary reporters, have joined in the speculative fray. As if uniting all, ‘Which is the best among the 3?’ suddenly emerges as a common query.
With them choosing different dates of birth & boasting avid followers – who are happy with what they use, & probing almost amounting to comparing apples with oranges, choosing the best isn’t easy. If trend is anything to go by, while Twitter with 100 million users & Facebook with 800 million even make a pivotal shift in Net access & almost govern human behavior, Google+ the newest baby of the search engine dinosaur, Google, even boasts a growth spurt at 40 million. With it bridging the gaps in the other two, its facilities amaze me, not the catching up.
Although message delivery, as a way of spread, is offered by all 3, like the making of a superstar, large follower count gives boost & boast to firms attached to all, & firms crave for a date with 5% of those followers who really matter in all, it’s the differing services that make the 3 titans distinct, if not essential.
FACEBOOK: Designed by few uni geeks in a room, launched in 2004 & aimed at bringing friends & families above the age of 13 together – not quite clients, Facebook drags both underage kids & traditional housewives to their PCs. Changing human behavior, this brand challenges mighty search engines.
PROS: Like in Twitter, messages can be offered to followers screens or sent to them directly. But then, those aren’t limited by the magical 140. Having the facility to create pages reflecting aspects, it allows uploading of person tagged pics & videos to the right page that can be liked or commented upon in a stream. As if proving ‘picture tells a thousand words’, while intense interest in family pics brings women to their PCs – even disproves women prefer audio alone, comments on those & chat almost makes them glued. Addiction isn’t unheard of. When apps – games are added, even men don’t claim immunity. And when firms show keenness, akin to the glamour of ‘fan’ & ‘followers’, its Fan page, that can go viral, forms the mum of all temptations there.
Almost reminding body – gut bugs symbiosis, Facebook & Obama campaign symbiotically boosted each other. While enhancing video chat, addition of Skype has made it bigger, cheaper ads there is making smaller firms larger. Matching count, firms have made millions there. Matching count again, Google search engine has turned envious, if not silently hostile.
GAPS: This home invading giant has limits, however. Designed to protect privacy of friends & families, it needs an OK to view contents. Parallel to it not being very user-friendly, errors in texts – that routinely happens, can be deleted alone, not edited. Strangely, almost as a double tragedy, while access to followers alone limits exposure, it’s the exposure to all followers that painfully limits expression. Even if not disorderly, a drunken or wild expression like ‘My boss is fat’, can slim ones earnings. While uploaded goods are de jure Facebook’s, when spies feast on them they are de facto company’s too.
TWITTER: Popularized by Iran revolt & taken up by CNN; Twitter has become a major brand – especially for instant news delivery.
PROS: Unlike Facebook, Twitter is a public forum that knows publicity alone. A 140 character message can be put on the followers’ stream, sent to them as a direct message or even to unaware non followers. While latter makes sending unasked one to even President Obama possible, unlike subscription gathered emails, mere search brings @usernames here. Even if not a follower again, its #word system aids in finding tweets that can be retweeted to bring people together – as designed.
Parallel to its fame & limits, there are Twitter aiding sites & software that send timed tweets, do follow/unfollow, calculate Tweet reach, search #word & even dedicate page for a particular #. Aiding viral spread, its swiftness, followings, #search, RT, @tweets & recognition by Google search even makes it a viral king- epitomizes viral spread of messages. Firms couldn’t ask for more. Although not quite for photographers, good for campaigners, it is good for ‘newscasters’. And when titanic rivalry is added, irate Facebook turns nice when campaign against it is let loose here. It suddenly, grabs a ‘messiah’. Even ordinary sinners couldn’t ask for more.
GAPS: This ‘messiah’, however, has gaps. While allowed 140 characters restrict & deleting alone, not editing, is possible if faulty, even if correct follower @ PC is crucial – lest it vanish down under. In addition, unless retweeted, like post, message is seen by the addressee alone.
Although created as a social facility, with most sending invites to their sites & products, it’s getting as ‘commercial’ as Christmas. Consequently, diagnosing bigwig – if not an outright celebrity, following few & many followers alone seem to air, ‘people talk & listen’ – as was designed. Diagnosing propagator, many tweets, 10K following &10K followers endorses ‘everybody talk nobody listens’. While former has landed irate leaders in political soup, later brings little soup despite large following. While 0 tweets & 100 followers either surprises or airs auto-follow, @tweet from 0 following airs spam that needs blocking.
Seeing ideal in human dealings – even in making & breaking ties (follow/unfollow), while this social construct dislikes & disallows automation, getting overloaded by 1K ac. creators, it hates software. With it protectively altering rules & cancelling accounts without reason, earned 40K followers & brand username can just vanish. Suddenly, it as ‘cancellation king’ isn’t baseless.
GOOGLE+ Although a brand less baby born in June 2011 & fighting against mighty brands like Facebook & Twitter, Google+, also spoken of as Google Plus or just G+, by November, was able to deliver Google pages for firms. But then, how does this thinking baby fare against the other two grownups?
ch_color_bg = "#FFFFFF";

WITH TWITTER: Matching Twitter, following doesn’t need okay here, message can be made public, its share button mimics RT & + mimics Twitter’s @. But then, Google+ messages aren’t limited by ‘140’ & tend to last longer. While they can be commented upon & even Google plussed to add honor, adding beauty editing of pics adds to honor of photographers who relish it.
WITH FACEBOOK: Like in Facebook, messages can be commented upon, pics tagged, chat done, games played and pages created here. Unlike Facebook, however, following doesn’t need one’s OK, messages can be made public & access to public messages don’t need following. Editing of mistakes, here, has been a great bonus for scribes, who are increasingly using it.
BEYOND BOTH: Splitting views into private & public, we do not wish to share all our views to the public, as in Twitter or even to all our followers, as in Facebook. Almost mimicking targeted ads, its system of putting people into circles e.g., friends, family, colleagues etc, & then targeting messages at them gives full control. Selecting even persons, it mimics emails. Almost reminding free airing of sins to the churchman, this in fact lessens fear & enhances expression. In the stream, while easy editing, not deleting alone, of text errors has greatly helped scribes, editing of pics has almost made it an arts gallery for keen photographers.
More than RT, both visible ‘What’s hot’ & less visible less used Sparks bring top stories that enhance followings. As if tracing, Digg, its +1 button recommends a story, not just to followers but to the world. With there being nothing called natural search results, it loving its baby & desperately wanting to enhance its growth spurt, Google proudly boasts +1 in its search results & loves sites that have the icon. While this can bring sites to its 1st page, Google, as a dinosaur of searching species, can convert those results to clicks. Although, all have mobile apps it allows real-time group chat. When all is said & done, unlike in others, data can be downloaded & made one’s own.
Although its +page, allows firms to express sectors like in Facebook, it’s the less known & rather brashly named ‘Hangout’ that is causing a gold rush like Facebook’s Fan page. Although audio/visual exchange isn’t new, it’s the double screen & real-time interaction with 10 people at a time that makes this especial. Giving a sense of all watching in a room, while YouTube video in one & author in the other screen itself gives an anchor effect, live performance even makes one a star. While this made the Dalai Lama & Desmond Tutu interact when Chinese weight was too big to allow the Lama entry to the African tip nation, it has made one lady sell records. Furthermore, while power point & other presentations make it a webinar, live corrections of files & their sharing effectively makes it a round table conference. While addition of ‘it’s free’ makes it ‘God given’ even to atheists with small business & big ideas, addition of ‘mobile hangout’ erases ‘held up in traffic’ excuse. While social sites have changed ways of ordinary mortals, going further this is changing that of firm mortals. While it makes Skype marrying Facebook visibly sweat, its need for plug-in not large download as in Skype makes even the latter quietly perspire. Its ‘Google on air’ broadcast could irritate broadcasters.
PROBLEMS: All good things aren’t always good. While imagination of Google becoming the all knowing future church can bring fear, both its secretive & freely expressed texts can bring conjugal discontent. Addiction forments another fear.
FINALLY Not being a cartel like of petrol, the clash of the titans benefits ordinary mortals & makes them the winners. If, however, I was forced to finger or put my money on 1, I would go for Google plus. But then, if let loose, tracing Warren Buffet not putting all his eggs in a basket or supermarket’s ‘every little helps’ I would choose all 3 & call myself wise. But then again, the allied app, SGPlus, allows access to the other two right at Google+!!
Without a doubt Google is the mightiest fish amongst the Internet search engines. It alone gets the search requests, what others grouped together don’t. Forgetting Facebook, its nearest rival, Yahoo, offers no competition. In fact, people have even invented the term ‘Google it’ for ‘search in the Internet’. And when SEO managers talk about optimization, they talk in terms of Google rank. Although as a rule of thumb, Google loves textual relevance and relevant keywords at the site, and links from other sites- affirming dignity, it chooses to remain mythical. That essentially makes SEO a challenge. However, SEO managers are quick to tempt you with ‘we’ll make your site rank in the first page of Google and you will get tons of clicks to your site’. And money flows and SEO managers become the modern day ‘messiahs’.

In terms of Google ladder the rule of thumb is, more general the keyword more difficult it is to reach the top. On the other hand, more specific your keyword is more the chances of it appearing in the first page. For instance, the keyword ‘women’ is general, faces enormous competition (2,500,000,000) and therefore is very difficult. ‘Women’s power’ is easier. ‘Book on women’s power’ is even easier. Being easiest, ‘book on women’s power in London’ like keywords that specify locations are relied upon by small businesses. In fact, if you search for your name, it will easily come at the top of the results. This is because there is little, if any, competition for your name. You can know the competition your keyword faces by looking at the count given above the search results.

Our site Women’s Power Hub’s keyword ‘women’s power’ competes with 649,000,000 and finds itself in 6th position at www.google.com. ‘Women power’ competes with 1,370,000,000 and places itself in the 9th position. Topping videos, our women power video even makes it to the 7th position in website section of Google.com search. Despite that we get only few clicks from those positions. From that perspective, it is difficult to believe in the statement ‘Once your keyword reaches the first page you will get tons of clicks to your site’. Click wise, we can only feel sorry for the ones below.

But then, how do websites actually get their clicks? How do major sites like CNN or BBC get their traffic from?
The answer is very simple. You have used Yahoo or Hotmail or Gmail for your daily email check. Do you search for those sites? The simple answer is no, you don’t. So you bypass Google but routinely deliver clicks to those websites. How?
Besides search engines, tentatively, websites get visitors from three sources:

1. Clicking on bookmark/favorite list.
2. Typing website address.
3. Clicking a link.

1. Bookmark:
Whenever you visit a site and you like it, you can bookmark it. This means that you don’t have to remember the web address of that site again. Bookmark will also remind you of a forgotten site you visited long time ago. However, unless you organize the bookmark, it can easily become messy. Originally designed for one’s own computer now you can share your bookmarks with the world like in Yahoo bookmarks.
2. Website address:
If not bookmarked and especially if your book mark is messy, you can type the web address to go to the site. This is the reason why companies try to choose the addresses (domain name) that are easy to remember.
3. Links:

For a website links have two benefits. They can enhance the PR ranking of a site and also bring potential customers who click them. Links can come from articles, discussion forums, YouTube, pictures and what not. No wonder, we travel from one site to another clicking links. And when you do so you land up in amazing pages that you never thought existed!

From the above, it is clear that unless your keyword is competitive and is placed right at the top (at least the first three positions), first page ranking alone does not give you many clicks. Instead, you can try your luck on making your domain name simple and easy to remember. And try the art of link building. In the later case, besides clicks, it also helps in Google rank.
The biggest lie ‘Surfing the Net in private’, still mimics Gospel truth. Although we cherish our privacy, and the explosion of the Net and concepts emerging from it have partly come through the privacy that it offers us, it is essentially‘pseudo privacy’. In fact, almost reminding if not replacing God, Big Brother sees all that we do in that ‘private’ moment. Suddenly, we have never been so much exposed in our entire history even when primitive tribes are included - as a dismayed Pakistan has come to know.

This Big Brother has octopus like tentacles:

1. All makers hope for a visit by potential clients. Unfortunately, with only friends and families visiting their sites, whatever website hosts may say, many websites are facing 'loneliness'.
In a competitive world there are many sad stories. Unless rightly played, blog, Facebook, article and even video placements don't bring any audience. In this scenario, let's see if Twitter works.

Although recent Iranian uprise didn't gain much, using different technology than website and therefore being not quite amenable to a 'ban', its use by Iranians as news givers and by the rest as news gatherers made Twitter very popular. In fact with it giving news earlier than conventional 'breaking news', business men seeing incoming clicks and it being part of social network, it's becoming a household name.

But then, does Twitter help ordinary websites like this one?

Almost looking like chaos, Twitter seems to be a site, where everybody is trying to sell or draw attention to their own products or services. It almost seems to be like a party, where everybody speaks but nobody listens. In fact, many a times, reading those messages are painful. But then, since companies are at it, it must have something.

There are, in fact, three tricks to bring clicks to your site.

1. Follow others: Apart from your friends and families, you have to find others to make them follow you.
There are 3 groups of people, whom you can follow.
A. Just any Twitter: Although this will increase your followers, it may bring the less valued, not interested ones.
B. Ones who have same keywords: Aided by Twitter
itself, found shared keyword ones can bring sensible people interested in you tweets. But it also, brings competitors.
C. Ones who have high following low follow ratio: Although finding this lot is painful, it could include top notches in the field, celebrities, even big shots. Even if they don't follow you, their Twitting might help you.

2. Make them followers: Unlike pressurizing adverts, the beauty of Twitter, as a killer, is seen in becoming a follower here. Here you are saying 'I like your ways'. This increases the feel good factor, if not sales, of that Twitter. Chances are there that twitter might follow you as 'I like your ways too' gesture, or as one put it, 'you follow, I follow, everybody follows'.

3. Keep those followers: Once you make followers, most likely you'll see decrease in 'followers count'. To prevent this, as a start, you have to follow them. You will have to send them, not private but public personal messages. This gives them the joy of public recognition. Don't post tweets about your site but about sites that have interesting news and views linked to your site. Furthermore, present yourself as human being. Remember it is a social networking site loved by women
. You can do this by replying to their messages or by putting your feelings or reactions to the stuff in the Net. This makes them click your links. To avoid chaos, follow less, make more followers.

4. Then offer your services: Once you make them listeners, you make a brand. Now, almost as controlling people's minds you can sell your views or products.

5. Even if you don't get clicks, the beauty of Twitter is that, unlike emails or letters that go unanswered, using the concept of praise 'I like your ways', you can penetrate the personal sphere of even big shots. You could follow a country's president or a celebrity. You will see that, like you, they are simply fallible human beings!!

6. Making tweeting easier, while one site shortens site address and even tells us if posted links have been clicked, automatically managing site, another helps rapidly increase credible followers.
Although pay per click in search engines brings quick traffic, needing even $2 per click, it drains companies.
Free traffic that helps us can come from, mutually helping, two sources.

1. SEARCH ENGINES Although Google brings more clicks than others, ask paid SEOs, it isn't easy. Unlike the 'best in town' of yesterday, today's rivalry is global. Besides, only 1st three placement brings clicks, 2nd page position brings little. Although its working secret is unknown, even to SEOs, we know some. With it having to offer keyword in header or substance of results, and as responsible company needing authentic sites especially when faced with millions of crap sites, it adheres to criteria and chooses two ways.

A. Site scanning- It scans whole site, understands it (creates its own keyword and description), looks for any keyword in header and contextual keyword in the text to justify its listing. This makes site map, description and keyword submission less vital, and unless contextual, increasing keyword density, less fruitful.

B. Link scanning- Seeking more support with a team spirit, it sees links from other sites, in the form of text, article, video, book mark or comment as offering reference to the site. Interestingly, if the referring site has big turnover e.g. networking sites, which it scans daily, site listing in Google becomes quick. If the site has Google accepted high PR, it helps ranking. Hence the craze for links. However, alerted by software aided fake links from crap sites, while it disregards links from less reliable sites, it dislikes sudden rise in any links.

2. FROM OTHER SITES- After your article, video etc are posted surfers find them through site's mini-search. More popular the site is (Alexa ranking) and more popular your keywords are, more will find your article etc. Once found and liked, more will visit your site. Even if not, you don't lose, for those as links will form reference for Google. If they are respected sites like EzineArticles.com or YouTube (high PRs) you'll get a double whammy of both your article and your site getting high Google ranking. While the article itself can give fame, despite being a roundabout traffic- Google to article to your site, Google's search volume can give big results.

GETTING THE BEST

1. Keyword focus: Sadly only 1st three positions in Google bring traffic, 2nd page brings little. Although unsearched keyword e.g. name easily gets 1st place, it brings nil. Although women, women's empowerment, women's power women power and book on women power as keywords fit our site, while getting top place for less searched last is easy, for more searched 1st, it's hard. Focusing on the middle keyword with more searches but less rivalry becomes prudent. Thankfully, Google itself helps here.

2. With video marketing getting a new buzz and making it not being hard, short (5 min), unusual and funny video can bring clicks, even fame. If not; increasing 'likes' can push videos up in YouTube. Video has less rivalry than site.

3. Multiple submissions: Although submitting text, articles etc to multiple high PR sites helps, competitive keyword might need 100s or more links. Needing membership, submitting to many sites is painful. However, based on mutual benefit, some sites submit videos to multiple sites; others, with a click of a button submit articles, bookmarks and texts to many of sites, even for FREE. If needed, next article can mention them, even talk about keeping people in the site.
